Healthy Choices=Healthy Families: Good health is the foundation of school success; Head Start emphasizes the importance of early identification treatment of health problems.
Nutrition: We encourage children to serve themselves in a FAMILY STYLE meal setting with the teaching team and volunteers eating together with the children in a relaxed atmosphere.
Safety: Accidents do occur. First aid is always given. At least half of the staff at each center is trained in First Aid and CPR. When necessary, a parent is called to accompany the child and a staff member to a private physician or hospital for medical treatment. For minor cuts and bruises, an effort is made to inform parents or a note is sent home.
Mental Health: Mental Health supports the social and emotional development of children and families. A licensed psychologist is available to:
- Observe children and review developmental screenings.
- Offer private and confidential consultations.
- Offer workshops on a variety of topics such as child development and behavior management.
- Offer support groups.
- Work closely with parents as an important part of our team (Teacher, Family Worker, Nutritionist, Disability Coordinator and Nurse).
