La Peninsula Community Organization provides free, high-quality Head Start education and comprehensive family support to children ages 3–5 across the South Bronx. From our two neighborhood centers in Hunts Point, we prepare children for kindergarten — and stand beside the families who love them — in both English and Spanish.

Who we are
Rooted in this community since 1964.
La Peninsula was founded by South Bronx neighbors who believed their children deserved the same early education as anyone else's. Six decades later, we're still here — on the same blocks, with the same commitment — welcoming a new generation of families through our doors each September.
Our teachers are bilingual. Our classrooms are joyful. Our family workers walk alongside parents as they navigate housing, health care, immigration, and workforce systems that too often work against them.
Every child who leaves our program is ready for kindergarten. Every family who walks in the door leaves stronger than when they arrived.

Head Start (Ages 3–5)
Free, full-day early childhood education aligned to the Head Start Program Performance Standards, with individualized learning plans for every child.
